Earlier this week, I went out on a short hike up Drinking Horse here in town and decided to bring my camera along. The skies were moody, which makes for beautiful and more interesting landscapes; you can be the judge of that. The trail itself is a 2.1 mile loop and the elevation gain is about 656 ft. The actual trailhead the mountain is not to be seen until shortly after you cross the bridge over the creek.
I believe that the best time to arrive at the parking log is about 45 minutes before the actual sunset. This gives you plenty of time to get to the top of the mountain and set up your equipment, if you plan on photographing the sunset. Me, personally, I didn't even bother bringing a tripod this time around and to be honest I didn't think I needed it. All together, I only brought along my Canon EOS 6D Mk II camera, my Canon EF 16-35mm F/4L IS USM lens, and of course my beautiful model.
